Description

Reya's ideal home

Reya is a 1 year old Beagle who is looking for a home to call her own. She would like an active family who can keep her mentally and physically busy to avoid her becoming bored. She could live with children of older primary school age who are used to big bouncy dogs who can jump up when excited. Reya is currently kennelled with another dog and has the potential to live with a canine companion pending successful meets at the centre. She will need help learning the basics and may need housetraining, she walks nicely on lead and really enjoys the opportunity to sniff an explore. Reya can be a bit of an escape artist when it comes to enclosed spaces so she will need a secure garden with at least 6ft (preferably higher) and she should be monitored when playing in the garden. Once settled, Reya could have leaving hours introduced at a pace she is comfortable with.

Could you be Reya's perfect match?

Reya came into us with very little information except she was found following escaping the garden in her previous home. It will be important for her to have a secure garden and to be monitored when she is off lead; we would advise keeping her on a longline in the garden initially to help identify any "escape routes" she may sniff out! She is a sweet girl who has been friendly with everyone she has met at the centre and she has been happy to walk with other dogs. She enjoys her walks and opportunities to sniff and explore so a home with access to lots of interesting walks would be ideal. Being a young Beagle, Reya will need to be kept active and given outlets for her energy, some food enrichment or find it games to keep her mind busy and make food time fun would be ideal as she loves to sniff things out!

Please note that you won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can tell us what type of dog you’re looking for. You can also add up to four favourites to your application to give us an idea of the dogs you like, so we can consider you for similar dogs. Once you’ve submitted your application, we can’t change or update your favourites. Adding a dog to your application is not a reservation but a guide for us to find you a match.

Beagle Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Beagle.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
