Description

Cody's ideal home

Cody is a five-year-old Beagle looking for a loving home. He could share his home with teenage children. He will need a home without cats or small furries. He is okay on his lead around livestock. Cody is living off-site in a foster home on our Home from Home Scheme; he has settled in well and has been fine being left alone for a few hours; he will need a home that can build this time up gradually. Cody adores snuggling up to his humans on the sofa and will therefore need a home where his people are happy for him to be on the furniture. Cody is housetrained and he travels well in the car. He can find noisy traffic worrying so is looking for walks away from busy roads. Cody will need his adopters to be understanding that he may find routine change of being in a new home stressful to begin with. He is looking for light-hearted adopters who will find his typical Hound howl comical. Experience of the breed or researching breed traits would be helpful.

Could you be Cody's perfect match?

Cody is affectionate and loving. He adores a fuss and a snuggle and he is instantly friendly with new people. He loves physical exercise and has been going on long walks (over two hrs per day) with his foster carers. He has been ok in urban areas, like parks, but prefers rural adventures in the forests and countryside as there is more for his Beagle nose to sniff. Cody loves to use his nose for food enrichment puzzles like snuffle mats and liki mats, or you can hide treats and ask him to go ‘find it’, sniffing is great mental stimulation. Cody is not overly interested in toys. He loves treats and he knows a ‘sit’, ‘wait’, and he responds to his name. Cody is social with other dogs and has been meeting most dogs politely and calmly, however, he is not keen on boisterous dogs that jump on him. Cody’s foster carers describe him as being, “Full of character” and “perfect!”

Beagle Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Beagle.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
